Lake Umbagog & Evans Notch

Northern New Hampshire
July 22 - 23, 2011

Lee, standing between two rivers.

Our first visit with Ray & Cindy on their new sailboat had been met with indifferent weather, so we had only idled about the pond for a short while.  This weekend was entirely different, and we spent a full day on Lake Umbagog under blue sky and white sails.  Winds were more than favorable, and we were maintaining 5 knots for much of our cruise.  For all of the times in which Ray & I have fought the wind on that lake, it was awesome to have it work in our favor for a change.

Lee & I left early enough the next day to allow time to wander through Evans Notch.  The scenery is wonderful, and we happened to find the newly renovated Brickett House open for visitors.
