ON THE GO 2012 July thru December In July 2012, Mary's good friend Brita Tate visited us for a week. Here is an after dinner picture:
On July 29, 2012 we celebrated David Principe's birthday.
.Our neighbors, Phil & Jackie Rollman are here for a family week: 2 adults, 6 children, and 4 dogs. On Saturday August 18, 2012 we had the annual meeting of the Eagle Rock Racquet Club at the home of John and Betty Moran. RJ Contant won the annual Betty Moran Tennis Tournament for the third straight year. The prior trophy has been misplaced. As it was uninsured, Betty designed and donated a beautiful new trophy which she presented to RJ.
On Saturday August 25, 2012 Arnold and Mildred Abelson celebrated their upcoming 90th birthdays at the Waybury Inn in East Middlebury, Vermont. Two terrific people!
August 29, 2012 MAYNARD, Mass. Allegro Diagnostics is developing a molecular testing platform utilizing gene expression of normal epithelial cells in the respiratory tract to detect early signs of lung cancer. Allegro Diagnostics announced its participation in an upcoming conference in Zurich, Switzerland
In 1963 we spent a few days in Zurich. On Wednesday September 20, 2012 we drove north past Burlington, then east along the Lamoille River to Jeffersonville. We then drove south to Smuggs (Smugglers Notch Ski Area) and through the notch. We then drove up the auto toll road on Mt Mansfield. Had lunch at OGradys on The Mountain Road and then checked into the lovely Topnotch Resort. At 6 pm we went to Jay and Ingrid Friedenson's home 10 miles away on the Elmore Mountain Road for drinks. They have a spectacular view of Mt Mansfield. We met their four show dogs that are part of the family. Then had a nice dinner at the Blue Moon in Stowe. The next day we drove north to Morrisville, then south to Montpelier, then south through Northfield, then west to Warren, west over hairy Lincoln Gap (closed in winter) to Rocky Dale and Bristol, then Middlebury and home.
On September 26, 2012 Keith Barker installed our memorial stone that has an artist's rendition of Eagle Rock and Beebe Pond on one side. It is located in Pleasantview Cemetery in Hubbardton, Vermont. It is called Pleasantview as there is an above ground view of Lake Bomoseen from the cemetery. The stone is Vermont granite from Barre, Vermont. See front and back below.

On Monday October 8, 2012 we had lunch with Arnold and Mildred Abelson at Cafe Provence in Brandon, VT. On Tuesday, October 9, 2012 we drove to New Hampshire. and met Mary's brother John Towne and wife Connie at the lovely Franconia Inn, http://www.franconiainn.com/ with its great view of Mount Lafayette. It is about a mile from the "Frost Place" home of Robert Frost from 1915 -1920. https://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/5744 We also took the aerial tram up Cannon Mountain. We returned to Vermont on Wednesday and had lunch at Simon Pearce in Quechee, VT. On Saturday November 3, 2012 we had dinner in Naples, FL with Steve and Sandy Earl. On Sunday November 4, 2012 we had brunch at The Lexington in Ft Myers. Then played Chicago with the Burton twins, Don's cousins. Below are Doris, Don, and Dulcy.
On Sunday November 11, 2012 we drove to Everglades City for lunch at the Rod and Gun Club. We arrived at noon and had the entire porch to ourselves, for a short time. http://www.evergladesrodandgun.com/everglades-city-lodging-and-hotel/Our-History.html We then drove along the Turner River Road and saw many birds including wood storks and black vultures. On Tuesday November 13, 2012 Don celebrated his 82nd birthday at the Ritz with Mary and their good friends Steve and Sandy Earl. On Sunday November 18, 2012 we had lunch at Stonewood Grill. We saw an Osprey on the way.
On Thanksgiving Day we flew from Florida to San Francisco to see David and grandchildren for a week. We even saw some sunshine. One day we drove to Santa Cruz and met our surfing dude grandsons, Owen and Kyle, plus Rita and her daughter Julie Ann. (Rita, David, Julie Ann below.) (Owen and Kyle below.) Mary and I drove to Sausalito for lunch at Scoma's for lobster salad and clam chowder: Back in Vermont from !2/15/2012 to 1/3/2013. Gray spent a nice day on Christmas at the lake. The Principe's opened their presents after taking their Beagle to the Vet in Rutland. Rosie ate a pound of dark chocolate M & M's last night. Here are Karla, David, Zach, and Erin. We had foot of snow on December 27, 2012. Our birds cannot take a bath. We therefore waited one day to have lunch with Arnold and Mildred Abelson at Cafe Provence in Brandon, VT.
We did enjoy visitors in Vermont over the holidays: Brita Tate was here for one week, (Christmas thru New Years), Amy Tom and Aleksey arrived after Christmas for six days. Eric Cindy, and Alexei came for two days including our New Year's Eve party.
And of course Don. Here he is in his new shirt ... his major Christmas present this year.
